Frequently Asked Questions
What is reflexology?
I often describe reflexology as a time for your body to slow down and reset. It is a gentle, non-invasive therapy that involves applying pressure to specific points on the feet (and sometimes hands). These points are believed to correspond to different areas of the body, helping to support relaxation and overall well being.
What can reflexology help with?
In my experience, many clients come to reflexology for stress relief, better sleep, easing tension in the body, relaxation and a time to focus on themselves. It can be a helpful complementary therapy alongside conventional care.
What happens during a treatment?
I begin with a short consultation so I can understand your health, lifestyle, and any concerns you may have. You will then be invited to lie back in a recliner chair and relax while I carry out treatment on your feet.
Does reflexology hurt?
Reflexology is a relaxing and comfortable experience. Some areas of the feet may feel more sensitive than others but should not hurt, I will always adjust the pressure to suit you.
How will I feel after a session?
Most people feel deeply relaxed after treatment — some feel pleasantly drowsy, while others feel quietly energised. Over the following 24 to 48 hours your body continues to settle, and it is common to notice better sleep, easier digestion, or a calmer mood. Occasionally clients feel a brief dip first, almost like a gentle detox, as the body lets go of tension. I always recommend drinking plenty of water, taking it easy where you can, and allowing yourself time to rest so you get the full benefit of the treatment.
How many treatments will I need?
This varies from person to person. Many clients find that a short initial course — typically four to six weekly or fortnightly sessions — gives the strongest, most lasting benefit, particularly when there is a specific concern such as stress, sleep or tension you are working on. After that, some choose to move to monthly maintenance treatments as part of their wellbeing routine, while others come back occasionally when life feels especially busy. I am always happy to talk through what is likely to suit you best after your first session.
Is reflexology safe?
Reflexology is safe for most people. I will always take a full medical history and adapt treatments to suit you. If you have any medical conditions or are pregnant, we will discuss this beforehand.
What should I wear?
Wear whatever feels comfortable — loose, easy-fitting trousers or leggings work well, since only your shoes and socks need to come off during the treatment. If you usually wear tights, you may prefer to slip them off before we start so your feet are completely free. The treatment room is kept warm, but I always have a soft blanket to hand if you tend to feel the cold, so you can stay cosy and fully relaxed throughout.
Do I need to do anything after my treatment?
I recommend drinking plenty of water and giving yourself time to rest if you can, allowing your body to fully benefit from the session.
What is the treatment room like?
My treatment room is designed to feel calm, warm, and welcoming. I have created a quiet, comfortable space where you can fully relax, switch off from daily life, and feel at ease throughout your treatment.
Is there parking available?
Yes, there is plenty of space available on the driveway, making it easy for you to park and arrive feeling relaxed and stress-free.
